What we collect

When you scan or search for a product, Veridex logs the following to our database:

  • The product barcode or search term
  • The product name and brand (from public databases)
  • The AI-generated verdict and claim breakdown
  • A timestamp

We do not collect your name, email address, location, or any account information. We do not require sign-up. We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising.

How we use it

Scan data is used to: cache prior verdicts (so the same product isn't re-analyzed unnecessarily), understand which products are commonly scanned, and improve the service over time. We do not sell this data or share it with advertisers.

Third-party services

Veridex uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy practices:

  • Anthropic — processes product descriptions to generate verdicts. See anthropic.com/privacy.
  • Supabase — hosts our database. See supabase.com/privacy.
  • Vercel — hosts the application. See vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
  • Open Food Facts / UPC Item DB — public product databases used to look up product information.

Product descriptions you search may be sent to Anthropic for analysis. We do not send any personally identifying information to Anthropic.

Data retention

Scan records are retained indefinitely to support verdict caching and service improvement. Because we collect no personal identifiers, we cannot identify or delete records tied to a specific individual on request — there is no personal data to delete.

Children

Veridex is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy as the service evolves. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
